The birth a prophet comes when humanity requires a turn in society. Change is promoted as the result of their messages and deeds. John Lee Garrett was born to the earthly parents of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Garrett Sr. on January 22, 1973 in New Orleans, Louisiana at Charity Hospital. His mother, Agusta Garrett was exhausted, travailing in labor from the 21 day delay but joy arrived on the day of the prophet’s birth.

Elder Reverend John Lee Garrett Sr. was called to ministry at the tender age of three, then a gentle reminder at age ten. Memories linger in his mind as he reflects on hearing the voice of the Lord say”Now it is time to be about your Father’s business and to preach God’s word” He embraced his calling at the age of twenty to submit to the leadership of Pastor Bob Fradieu of the Beulah Baptist Church of Gibson, LA., where he was licensed on August 21st, 1994. Rev. Garrett completed 3 yrs of seminary study at United Theological Seminar and Christian Bible College.

As a young boy, he grew up in the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church with Pastor Reverend James Allen Sr. Through guidance and leadership he began to show continually that he had a gift for teaching through his adolescent years. He began to teach intermediate Sunday School class. After accepting his call to ministry, he faithfully served for a year at Rock of Ages Baptist where Rev. Noah Smith Sr. is pastor. As associate pastor, he ministered in areas of Christian education. He later moved to Franklin, Jenerette, and Morgan City area generously working with Pastor T.J Hanna of Second Missionary Baptist Church and Rev. Annius Bourgeois. For the past seven years he served with his Pastor, of the Beulah Baptist Church teaching Adult Sunday School and summary of the lesson to the entire student body. In addition, Elder Garrett has co labored with and been a student of Pastor G. R. Washington, Jr. of the Beautiful Zion Baptist Church, where he helped to conduct third Sunday worship services. In addition, Elder Garrett served as Senior Pastor to the New St Matthews Baptist Church for 3 years and faithfully led in every area of service.

Elder Reverend John Lee Garrett Sr. relocated to the metro Atlanta area after the events of Hurricane Katrina in 2006. He began Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church on August 21, 2007.

In the midst of setting up the church God called him to establish, Elder Garrett assisted several ministries in their growth process: Assistant Pastor at Solid Rock; 08/2006 - 06/2007 - Intern Pastor in Decatur, GA; 2007-2008 - Worship Center International, Tucker, GA and 2009 - Anointed Voices of Praise in Loganville, GA.
